We have all watched with heartbreak the scenes and the stories coming out of Texas this week as what is left of Hurricane Harvey seems to be taking up residence over Houston and the surrounding area. In the coming months and maybe years, there will be many ways to provide hands-on help, but right now, the most needed thing is money for local agencies to provide immediate assistance. I hope you will consider making a contribution to one (or more) of the following Episcopal institutions who will be instrumental in the recovery efforts:
Clicking on any one of those names will take you to their Hurricane Harvey response page. The people of Christ Church were incredibly generous to those in our own diocese in response to Hurricane Matthew. Harvey has caused even wider damage and displacement, and I hope we can be equally generous in to our Texas brothers and sisters their time of need.
Finally, I would encourage you to pray for the people of Texas and Louisiana and for those from around the country who are there to assist in the recovery efforts. Two of our own, Bud & Carol McClard, were deployed to Dallas by FEMA on Sunday to inspect homes and businesses as the waters subside. Please keep them in your prayers, also.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
