John Haroldson was unable to attend for an update on our financials, but Paul reports that 2020 pledges are on target, and overall expenses are down as a result of the Corona virus and the church facilities seeing little use comparatively speaking. Therefore, the financials are quite good at this point. The cost of lawn maintenance has risen so the church is going to seek competitive bids from other lawn maintenance crews.
As you are aware, the floor in the Chancel area has been renewed as part of our Sacred Sound and Space project. All furniture, railings, etc. were removed, the red carpet removed, and new, hardwood plank flooring was put down, sanded and stained. It is beautiful and a great representation of how the floors in the sanctuary will look once they are completed. There was no cost over-run, which is positive. Additionally, new light bulbs have been put into the fixtures throughout the Sanctuary after study by a lighting professional. It is a huge improvement and will be much appreciated by the congregation.
It was concluded that the scholarship awards from the Bustard Scholarship Fund will be paid directly to the institution those receiving the award will attend rather than directly to the student.
Debbie Fodrie, Cliff Badgley and Meg Jones will be meeting on Wednesday (7/22) to develop a plan as to how Christ Church can provide greater support to Brinson Elementary School. Our GIG children might need additional help as they return to school. More details to follow.
The virtual Camp Hope was held during the week of 7/13-7/17. Each morning, a document was available to the campers via email, Instagram, and our Christ Church web page. It opened with a devotional reading and questions about the devotional. Various ideas for activities and links were provided, and the document ended with several suggestions for service activities. A huge Thank You to Nell Hudson and Terry Brubaker for their dedicated effort to make this happen!
The fall outreach activities of Pumpkin Patch and Cookie Walk were discussed, and a committee will be assembled to discuss the probability of canceling them this year or, how they might be held, but in a much modified method. Rick Miller will lead the discussion on the Pumpkin Patch.
The Stewardship Ice-cream Social is planned for Sunday, August 30, as well as Harvest Sunday on 11/18.
